A guesthouse
with a modern architecture and a gorgeous view to the fir tree forests
and the hills covered with pastures. Being placed at the very border
of the village (there is only one house close to it), it is a very relaxing
and quite place. The unique sounds are the murmur of the rivulet, the
twittering of the birds and the specific sound of a Maramures village:
the far barking of the dogs, rooster's singing and cattle mooing.
You must know that your host is a well known local "ceteras"
(traditional violin player), who can show you some of the secrets of
playing at the "cetera", on occasion of a party that he will
propose you for sure. And, as the "cetera" doesn't sound well
without some "horinca" (double distilled brandy made of plums,
pears or apples), you'll be invited to taste a little glass of this
"liquid aspirin", how some local people call it. Your host
has always a reserve of bottles of "horinca" for sale, for
those who want to remember the Maramures on cold winter evenings or
while showing their friends their holidays photos.
Places: 6

the crossroad with the street leading to the church in Poienile Izei,
continue on the main road about 700m, then turn left on the third street
counting from the crossroad (the street is opposite a huge white building).
Continue on the street about 300m, crossing the rivulet. It is the last
house at the end of the street and it has a signing plate "Pensiunea
LA MARIA".
